What is the difference between freeze-dried food and dehydrated food?
Freeze-drying removes water by freezing the product and then evaporating the ice under vacuum conditions. As a result, freeze-dried food retains more nutrients, flavour, aroma and texture. Dehydration, on the other hand, removes water through warm-air drying, which may affect taste, texture and nutritional value.
This is why freeze-dried meals are widely used by hikers, trekkers, campers, travellers and outdoor enthusiasts looking for lightweight, nutritious and long-lasting outdoor food.
How do I prepare freeze-dried meals?
Preparing freeze-dried meals is simple. Open the pouch, add hot water up to the indicated fill line, stir thoroughly, close the pouch and wait approximately 8 minutes. Stir again before eating and enjoy your meal.
How hot should the water be for freeze-dried meals?
For the best results, use water between 70°C and 100°C (158°F-212°F). In emergency situations, most freeze-dried meals can also be prepared with cold water, although the rehydration time will be significantly longer.
What is the difference between REAL Turmat and REAL Field Meal?
REAL Turmat offers premium freeze-dried meals designed for trekking, hiking, camping, travel and outdoor adventures. REAL Field Meal is a military-grade range with higher calorie content, developed for demanding environments and intense physical activity
How long can freeze-dried food be stored?
Most REAL Turmat and REAL Field Meal products have a shelf life of up to 5 years from the production date. This makes freeze-dried food an excellent choice for outdoor adventures, emergency food supplies and long-term storage.
Are your products only suitable for expeditions?
